Combi Boilers

What is a Combi Boiler?

A combi boiler is different than your system boiler and Heat only boiler. The main advantage of a combi boiler is that it can heat up  water directly from the boiler and produce hot water at your hot water outlets, such as showers, baths, taps etc.

This removes the need for a hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard, thus creating more space in the home.

How a combi boiler works?

Under normal conditions when the heating is running and heating up radiators, when a hot water outlet is opened such as a kitchen sink tap, the internal diverter valve switches over form the heating side to the hot water side and heats up the incoming water that passes over the internal heat exchanger in the boiler, heating up the water as it flows to the outlet.

Combi  boilers generally come in larger kw out puts in comparison to the system boilers or heat only boilers, due to having to heat up domestic hot water so quickly. It is important when choosing a comi boiler for your home that it is sized correctly and that the Flow rates for hot water are adequate for your outlets.

Single combi boilers are well suited to apartments, and smaller properties such as a 3 to 4 bed semi detached with a main bathoom with 1 shower or bath and a downstairs kitchen sink, or understairs toilet basin.

Here at Gas Pro heating Ltd we specialize in combi conversions from standard system boilers, it is becoming very common to retro fit combination boilers in attic spaces, as most of the pipework can be linked back in to the hot press when the hot water tank is removed.
